Samsung Galaxy S5 running hot and using battery too fast.?
My wife has a Galaxy S5 phone, and it has started using the battery quickly and running hot, even on standby. At one point, the battery went from 57%, to 17% in an hour without being touched.
We have tried... Opening the program manager to close any open programs.
Restarting the phone.
Installing AVG virus scanner, followed by some others on Playstore and found no virus with any of them.
Any ideas what is causeing it? Or how to stop it happening?

As the phone model is only 6 months old, then the phone is new, in fact it is a month old, only.
This occurrence is recent, and in a major city, so signal strength is not an issue.

How old is the phone? The average cell phone battery can be charged between 300 and 500 times. If the phone is around a year old it is safe to assume that the phone has been charged around 300 times. So the battery may be ready to be replaced.

Is her phone being used in a weak cellular signal area? Is her phone jumping between one or more towers sitting in one spot?
Is this a recent thing, or has it started happening more and more over time in more that one place?
Has she been charging her phone using a generic USB charger or the one made for the S5? While any of the micro USB chargers will fit in the micro USB port on the phone, if the amperage is wrong, it can cause the phone to over heat and damage the battery.
