How is it best (and most natural) to express thanks to a friend who has just saved the life of someone you love?

Those expressions are all common but I would personally say something different. I mean, they saved a life. They deserve better words.
Something like "non saprei come ringraziarti", "non saprò (mai) come ringraziarti", "grazie di cuore", "non ho parole per ringraziarti" are pretty common.

In italian we say: Non saprò mai come ringraziarti per quello che hai fatto!
