I dont know what my next step is do I do aat ? if so is that college or like work and study , or can i apply for a chartered postion ? Most people do AAT before going to uni or do it during the placement year but i havent ? any career advice would be helpful thanks

Because you only have 220 UCAS points I will assume that you went to a low level university? If this is the case you will be competing for work against people who have done an apprenticeship in accounting and will be better qualified than you.

A degree from a low level non respected university will not be respected even if it is a 1st. This is one of the reasons why it is so important that you do research before choosing a university. People who have been to a higher level university will all have degrees that are better than your 1st so you will have to think about this when you apply for a job.

http://www.notgoingtouni.co.uk/apprenticeships-223... Now these are the kinds of jobs that people do with apprenticeships. As you can see an apprenticeship often leads to better qualifications than you have got. I don't know who advised you to go to university but it wasn't the best advice that you ever got. It appears that some people can get an apprenticeship after doing a university degree and as your degree is going to be very low level and one that is easy to pass you might find that you can do this. If not you will probably find that the best you can do is to get a job in finance and see if you can do the next qualification while you are working.
