Could an Upstate New York Police Officer transfer the the city?
Okay this is the last question about the police department. I'm just curious, if the NYPD in the city need a certain detective (like to solve a case) but the detective is already in upstate new york, could she/he be transferred to the city? Or could the officer just be transferred in general? Or could that not happen at all? (Please excuse my stupidity, I don't know much about the police department and the laws about it so I'm just curious.)

This would never happen. Cops do not "transfer" from one police department to another. A cop working in one police department can apply for a job in another department but the NYPD would not conclude it needed a cop from upstate New York to solve a certain crime. People in New York view themselves as superior to people outside the city.

In cases where officers are required to work a case from several jurisdictions, they usually make up a special task force. If the case is big enough they may be deputized at the federal level for the time they are on the task force. The US Marshal's Service does this a lot for fugitive task forces, as does the DEA
