Are protein bars junk food?
And also, is white pasta and bread that much worse than wholemeal? I was looking at the nutrient content of some white wraps and then some wholemeal ones and it looked practically identical, same protein content, same fibre content, same fat content, same carb content and even identical calories.

Depends on the bar. A lot of protein bars nowadays are filled with junk -- sugar, chocolate, too much fat, etc. I would suggest Oatmega bars and cliff bars. If you're looking for a good source of protein I would also suggest protein shakes with all-natural protein powders (those can reallllly be filled with junk) or nutritious meals high in protein (lean meats, fish, grass-fed beef, etc)
As for your question pertaining white pasta and bread -- all white starchy foods you want to stay away from. You seem like someone who cares about what they put into their body, and these substances are the last ones you want. White sugar, white flour, white pasta, white bread, etc. If you're going to get your carbs this way, it's better to stick to multi-grain, whole wheat products. Try multigrain pastas and dark, whole-wheat heart-healthy breads. Just because they're healthier, don't overload! They are still carbs, and carbs are killer.

The difference between white bread and whole wheat is that white bread is chemically treated to be that way. It's the chemicals that people don't want to expose themselves too and some nutritional aspects are stripped away from the processing. You said almost identical, not identical. what makes you more full longer : white or whole wheat? Protein bars are not junk food; the only thing you have to watch for is some are better than others. Also, some contain a lot of sugar so you want to look out for that. And protein bars are meant to sustain you for long periods of time and to fuel a workout so despite being small, their calorie content is pretty high. You can't munch on a bunch of them.
Can you answer mine? I could really use some help! https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=As4k...
