Isle of Wight ferry - Day Return Ticket?
Hello,
during the next days I would like to visit the Isle of Wight.
I'll use the Wightlink ferry from Portsmouth and I consider to buy a Day Return Ticket.
Just to be sure that I understand correctly the features of the Day Return Ticket.
When going from the Mainland to the Island, I will have to use the ferry at the time specified at the online booking. Correct?
However, when going back from the Island to the Mainland, am I restricted to use a certain ferry or can I choose every ferry on the same day?
I know already that I can't use the catamaran if I have a ticket for the ferry and viceversa.

The day return ticket is valid on any ferry; return up to 04:30 hours next day.

It depends on the ferry company's terms and conditions as displayed on their website. I have not done this crossing for 7 or 8 years but when I last did it you could use any sailing. You were not limited to certain times. If you are arriving at Portsmouth Harbour by train, you can buy a combined rail/ferry ticket from your originating station

You can usually step aboard any ferry. i have arrived early and been ushered aboard the ferry before the one that was on my ticket.
