Constipation after changing eating habits?
So the least week I have been making a conscious effort to eat better and drink water. I've cut out fast food and sodas. I have been drinking 4+ bottles of water a day. I feel like I need to go to the bathroom but every time I try, nothing happens. I had a somewhat normal bowel movement three days ago. Since then I haven't been able to go much. When I try barely any comes out if any. I feel bloated and gassy and have some minor abdominal pain. What can I do to help myself go? If it doesn't clear up in the next day or two, I will be calling my doctor. Idk if this is important but I have been having some family problems and have felt more stressed than usual the last week. I know stress can sometimes cause constipation as well. I've only had fruit and salad all day today in hopes that would help move things along but so far nothing. Any suggestions?
I haven't tried Miramax or any sort of laxative. I am hoping to get things working again without any. I admit that I had horrible eating habits. I found out that I am pre-hypertensive so I've been trying to cut all they bad stuff out cold turkey. I have been eating less than I used to so I figured that would be a good reason for why I don't need to go as much but 3 days seems like a long time to not be able to go normally. I ate a handful of blueberries a bit ago and hopefully that will help.

The stress could be causing a lot of this, but I would take a close look at what you're eating. Before maybe the grease, fat content, etc. of less healthy food was helping you go, and without that you're now a little bound up. Make sure you're not overdoing it on dairy as that can make you constipated. Try eating more fruit as the fiber will help get things moving. Try a fiber-enhanced cereal as well to see if that helps. Even if you're sure you're doing the right things, keep a log of what you're eating to show your doctor if you have to go since it will help. Best of luck!

Take a laxative.
You should not wait another day or two. After, this episode, drink half a small glass of prune juice when you get up in the morning, instead of laxatives. Your system will get used to your change in diet.

Well there are some secrets of the world that just have to be shared. I swear by this one. Some probiotic (We're not supposed to mention names, I like the kind you drink) and then the real zinger, a not quite ripe peach. If that didn't work for me, I'd call that doctor.

Well, any time you change your diet there is a chance of changes in your bowels. Your body could just be getting used to the change. It's weird that you would have constipation after increasing water and fiber. Have you tried a little bit of Miramax?
