What's behind these "weird trick" malware sites? Are they just marketing that wastes as much of your time as possible or are they a serious threat to your computer security?

Actually both. Some are just marketing but some are harmful too.Marketing in the sense that while doing other work on PC these malwares interrupts in between and degrades the speed of PC and harmful in the sense some malwares try to"see" your personal data, etc

i will suggest you to try a scan of malwarebytes antimalware ..hope this will help ...
