Why can't I break 4:40?
This is now the second meet in row that I have not been able to break 4:40. I think that I have the training in, for example I did 3 1000's at average of 3:02 with an all out 200 in between each the other day. I think that it might be the speed which is the problem, I only ran a 2:06 800. I ran a 10:14 2 mile a month ago after running another 2:06 before that race. How should I go about trying to breaking 4:40 or should I just focus on trying to break 10 in the 2 mile?

It sounds like you need to do pace and speed work, as in 5 to 6 times 400 at 65 to 70 with 3 minutes recovery. You could also do 3 to 4 times 800 in 2:15 with 4 minutes recovery.
You need to get your body used to running your race pace to be able to do that in a race.

just keep doing the 10 minute, 2 mile run. once you can easily do that speed the run up and make sure u hydrate and get your legs well-rested
