Where can I get affordable insurance as a new Driver?

I'm 24 years old (almost 25) and I JUST got my driver's license. I'm trying to buy a car and came across some options that I can afford but I'm super concerned about insurance costs.

I live in Springfield MA (A high insurance city) and I'm in between an 09 Honda Accord and an 07 Toyota Camry.

Ideally, I would like to have my own policy for personal reason's of not wanting to be entwined with my mother. My father lives out of state. I don't have friends close enough and with better driving history that could go on with me so I'm likely on my own.

I'm going to want full coverage (or at least mostly full)

What are some good insurance options for new drivers who aren't 16 year old kids? I tried to get one of those free quotes online and came up with a number like $706.00 a month which is just ridiculous.

I know I'm not going to come away with a $150 a month plan but is there anyway I can get at least $250 - $300?

ANY help would be appreciated.

Update:

O.k, Some of these answers are just plain rude and unhelpful. OBVIOUSLY I know that I can call around, and I don't plan on substituting doing that with Yahoo answers. And OBVIOUSLY I don't expect there to be 1 company that's just better all the time always and forever. That doesn't mean that people can't share companies that they have had good experiences with, or haven't had good experiences with.

Also, there are some companies that are better for certain brackets than others. Maybe there are one or two companies that have good programs/policies for new drivers. You ever think of that?

Thank you to those who suggested some companies that they have had good experiences with. I appreciate you trying to help and not being condescending.

Try calling Met Auto & Home Ins. Co. I've had some pretty good results recommending them to people.

If there was a company out there who always had the best rates for everyone, they would be the only company still in business. Nobody can give you the answer you're looking for.

I could sit here and list insurance companies for you, but neither I nor anyone else has any idea what they would charge you for a policy. You have to do that part, and only you can do it. You need to call around.

Avoid the online quotes, especially the places that claim they can quote you with 20 companies in five minutes. You're a brand new driver, and (I know this sounds cold) insurance companies don't want to do business with you. New drivers are ten times more likely to crash than experienced ones, and paying out claims is not how insurers make profits. They only compete for the 'good' drivers, people who have been driving at least five years or more. They will make the online process as confusing and frustrating as possible for you, because they actually hope you'll get fed up and go somewhere (anywhere) else. But on the phone, they don't have the option to make it difficult for you. So call around.
