Married to a Hypothyroid and I need help...badly!?

We got married about a year ago and hubby was diagnosed with hypothyroid about the same time when we got married. The doctor prescribed him a pill and ran the test on him - everything was normal on the paperwork.

Our sex life is a blah, though we both are in our late 20s. He feels fatigue every day and he thinks that his workload at work is killing him. He's been working over 13 hours on weekdays so he sleeps all day long on weekend.

He complains a lot... When I say a lot, it's a lot - like on 100 miles road trip. I was so frustrated because of it and thought he's verbally abusing me (no cursing but putting me on the spot), though he doesn't mean it. He acts that way because his body feels tired due to thyroid problem.

He doesn't like meeting with people or even talking on the phone - work is an exception. But meeting with family exhausts him and sucks his energy. That said, we can only mingle with people he likes and he doesn't really care about my friends.

He doesn't want to change or sacrifice for me. He completely blames it all on thyroid which I get annoyed sometimes because we can't do activities together.

I wonder if people with hypothyroidism problem are ALL like that - pessimist, introvert, no social life, verbally abusive. Any wife of a hypothyroidism husband here? Can thyroid be cured through a surgery? I'm so desperate....

The symptoms of hypothyroidism are often subtle, but can include increased cholesterol levels, depression, and fatigue.

Those with hypothyroidism had abnormally high prolactin, while their testosterone levels and sperm counts were about one-third of normal values.

Properly diagnosed, hypothyroidism can be easily and completely treated with thyroid hormone replacement (Levothyroxine). On the other hand, untreated hypothyroidism can lead to an enlarged heart (cardiomyopathy), worsening heart failure, and an accumulation of fluid around the lungs (pleural effusion).

Once hypothyroidism is diagnosed in a man with fertility problems, bringing thyroid hormones levels back into the normal range usually restores normal erectile and ejaculatory function.

In most cases, other problems related to the disorder, such as low sperm count and reduced testosterone, also improve over time. Hypothyroidism is best diagnosed by measuring blood levels of thyroid hormones in a specific blood test. If you have problems with erectile function or ejaculation, or if you are having difficulty fathering a child, discuss the possibility that you are hypothyroid with your doctor or a specialist in endocrinology, who will help you determine the underlying cause of your fertility problems.

Consult an Endocrinologist or an Infertility clinic.

    Hypothyroidism is horrible.

Besides fatigue, depression is also a symptom. Depression can also leave you feeling fatigued. When you are tired or depressed it is miserable and understandable that you just do not have the energy to do anything more that you aboslutly have to. Sometimes even doing the necessities seems to difficult.

There are medicationas you can take for this:

Surgery is rarely performed for hypothyroidism.

If he is on thyroid medication then his thyroid levels are as normal as everyone else's.

Sometimes if someone is hypothyroid for a long time, they get used to an inactive lifestyle and continue with it even when they go on medication. As part of going on thyroid medication, it's a good idea to push yourself physically and to realize that there is a psychological hill to climb too.

As I said, he can't blame his thyroid if blood tests are now showing normal levels because of medication.
