Ankle Injury 2 weeks ago?

Two weeks ago when I was out walking my dog, i went over on my ankle whilst climbing over some fallen trees and branches. It was instantly sore, but I thought I had just sprained it. Since then it hasn't got any better, if anything slightly worse. I am struggling to even walk on it, i can walk a short distance with a limp but then the pain gets too much. The pain is in an odd place though-up the very back of my foot from the heel to my ankle. It is slightly swollen and when you feel the area it is almost squidgy unlike my other which is firm. I really don't want to go to A+E as you end up sitting for hours and I don't have that time.

Do you think i need to give it more time to heal or could i have done some damage?

Thanks

Update:

Do you think it is bad enough for an emergency GP appointment (that day) or should I just get the first appointment available with my GP (could be a few days)

The fact it's got no better (or slightly worse) could be connected to two things.

    1) You've not given it any time to heal (aka continued using it when you shouldn't have).

    2) You've done more then Sprain it.

Whatever the case, don't go to A and E now (who wants to sit in a room filled with drunks, druggies and homeless people faking injuries for a place to kip). Either call the 111 number (they will advise you on what to do) or make emergency appointment to see your GP (who can advise you in person/with sight of the injury)

A real while back, I fell out of the bus and sprained my ankle. It hurt really bad, and my mother immediately came to drive me to the hospital (in which I was welcome about three hours later). It's not smart to just let it be and wait for it to heal; I think it's always best to go to a doctor the moment you think something might be a bit icky. Even when it ends up being nothing, that's better than doing nothing so it gets even worse, because then you're stuck with the injury even longer.

I actually watch a soap right now in which a dancer gets picked for a solo competition. During the auditions he sprains his ankle, but then he hears he won and gets to enter the final competition, so he says nothing and keeps dancing. Eventually, he makes a wrong move again, and has to go to the hospital for surgery and he may not be able to dance ever again.

Take this dumb example as a lesson. Better go to a doc for nothing and be embarrassed, and do nothing and end up way more hurt than before.

A&E is for real emergencies so don't go there.

You should have gone to see your doctor ages ago. Go and see him/her as soon as you can.
