Samsung S3: Can you change the way new txts are displayed on home screen when received?

When I get new txts, there is an envelope on my home screen, in a random position, and it doesn't show who it is from right away. It drives me nuts. Is there a way to see right away who I got a text from!?

Update:

I just turned the Pre-view off. I don't want to read the text right away. I want the screen to show something like "You got 1 new message from xyz"

    goto text icon and press it then hit the button on the right hand side of the bottom of screen then you will see a list appear goto settings and scroll down until you see preview message make sure it has a tick in it then when a text comes through you will get a small preview in you status bar
