Ok so in my notes it says I used the formula R^=4^2+3^2 to get the answer R=5mNE. But because I didn't write my notes down right I don't know how I arrived at that answer. And no matter how I do it I can't get the same answer. Help please!

This is a Pythagorean solution to a right triangle.
"The square of the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the squares of the other 2 sides".
R^2 = (4^2 + 3^2), so R = sqrt.(4^2 + 3^2), = 5.

R^=4^2+3^2 is missing a couple of things
square root of R^2 = 4^2 + 3^2
From the starting point an object moves 4 meters north, then turns right and moves 4 meters east.
Use the Pythagorean theorem to find the hypotenuse of the right triangle made by the path.
That solves for the line from the starting point to the end point.
