Should I continue to play violin in high school?
I have been playing violin since 4th grade and I am getting quite good. I am about to try out for a non school related orchestra ( Montgomery County Youth Orchestra ). I have been a first violin in every school orchestra I have been a part of and btw I am going into 10th grade. But I am also very interested in science and there are other science courses at my school that I want to take but can't because I am taking violin. Should I continue to play violin or drop it to take these science courses

What you could do is take the science classes at school because realistically that will be better for you in the long run academically and you are at the grade in HS where you really need to be thinking about college.
You can still play your violin on the side by joining an orchestra outside of school that way you can still advance your skills.

There have been many attempt and effort as to the discovery of one’s purpose in life. Psychologists, philosophers, numerologist with other horns of plenty experts have researched extensively on this large terrific subject-matter – Purpose Discovery. Yet the answer is not far-fetched. It is right within eyesight and not far from one’s earshot.
Without clear purpose, you keep changing directions, jobs, relationships, churches or other externals – hoping each will settle the confusion or fill the emptiness in our heart. (Rick Warren).
Purpose has been called so many names. It is accorded appellations like zeal, drive, passion, pursuit, etc. I’m not sure which is the right assertion but one thing I am therefore certain about and that I would love to share is that: “Purpose always produce passion and on the other hand, passion dissipates when you lack purpose.”
There are four stages in the line of purpose discovery.
(1). Introspection: this may also be termed reflection. This is a conscious task of asking questions like: Who am I? What am I here for? Where am I headed? What is my reason for existence? This and many more questions can spark up a fluid into making you take some positive steps. Ruminating over this subject-matter is key to your survival. At this precious stage, can we just live without a cause? It should not be so. There are appalling incidents all around us that point to the fact that a large percentage of humans on earth are yet to know their reason for living. Think deeply! Go very in-depth! What are the skills you possess? What can take you out of bed without much struggle? What can you do for free? I mean without being given monetary reward. These gifts, talents and skills amazingly might be more than one, two or three. All what is needed to be done is that they are harnessed into one personality, having no counterfeit. That is YOU!
Benjamin Mayes have quipped; “the tragedy of life doesn’t lie in not reaching your goal. The tragedy lies in having no goal to reach.” What are you waiting for? Start asking those questions. No! start asking the right questions at the right time(which is now) from the right source(the creator). The more questions you ask, the more revelations you get. I must warn that this is quite a rigorous task. It might take a while, but it is definitely worthwhile!
(2). Altruism: In the words of Martin Luther King Jnr, a man of purpose is a man whose words match with his actions – that is the true definition of altruism. Oxford dictionary defines it as the fact of caring about the needs and happiness of other people more than your own. Literally interpreting, altruism means selfless service. It is giving up your comfort, convenience and pleasure for other person’s benefit. Unfortunately, “we have imbibed much of the spirit of greed, belligerency, fearful callousness and INDIVIDUALISM” Martin Luther King Jnr. I repeat: what you can do for others without collecting any reward is a pointer to your purpose discovery. This service gives you joy in your heart, peace of mind and fulfillment. Being altruistic and lead you to discovering your purpose. William Wilberforce, Lebron James, Michael Jackson and a host of others adopted this method.
(3).Internalization- another way which we can discover purpose is by internalizing every good things that have come our way. Your past experience, your childhood feelings and expectations all points to something about you. ALSO circumstances surrounding your birth (although this is seldom true) can help you to getting the answer you seek. Being highly sensitive and observant will be needful here. After well articulate chains of event have been achieved, then you can make something out of the whole process. Read up the history of Bill Gate, Steve Jobs, Warren Buffet, Donald Trump and other personalities that have chalked the sign of victory in their chosen career.
Consequence- Lastly, I would want to infer that a positive purpose brings forth a positive outcome and vice versa. What kind of skills do you possess? Which field of life can it be useful to the society? A skill or gift that you cannot display in the public and which have harmful effect on you and other persons is one with a dangerous potential.
Only abilities that have a wonderful transformation and can bring happiness to your life and to that of your environs worth being promoted. Think about it!

To be honest science will get you in better places than violin will. However if you're not good at science don't risk it. Which one do you like most?
