What is a marketing job?
I'm really interested in the idea of a marketing job, but I'm not exactly sure what it entails. I'm a keen graphic designer and qualified a few years ago. I've worked free lance on and off since then but nothing full time. (Not the greatest paying job) but I have always been interesting in marketing. I love the idea of being the front of a company. I'm not sure if this is exactly marketing or branding or something else all together.
I want to be they guy designing the adverts, creating the flyers and posters promoting the company. Updating the social networking sites.
Can anyone give me any advise on what job title that actually or if even such a job exists?

If you like designing adverts/flyers/posters then that is a graphic designer job and you should work in an advertising agency OR you can work as in-house designer if some companies have one. Marketing is all about how to increase/push sales by communicating the brand message to the target audience. This can be achieve by advertisement (ATL/BTL), events, social media etc. In other words, Marketing is more to planning and strategizing and creative thinking.

Stick with your pursuit of an operations job. Your finance major will help you mightily here, and it's clearly the direction you want to go. Running a company efficiently by paying attention to budgets, results, and internal processes is the real cause of a business's success. Good luck!
