Poll: How far are you willing to travel to go to church? Do I hold a record?
I wasn't sure if this question should be in "Polls and Surveys" or "Religion and Spirituality" but I figured it's more of a "poll" question (obviously). So, my situation is, I just haven't found a church that I LIKE (for one reason or another) until I remembered that there's a German-language church service offered in my area. What better way to keep up my German and worship at the same time? However, this church is roughly 12-13 miles away from my house, and in another state actually (where I live, if you go in one direction, you cross the river into another state; if you go the other direction, you will go further into the same state...it's just the way it is). I ride my bike there because I don't have a car and it's a "built-in" Sunday morning workout, and so the total trip time is between 1 hour and 1 hour and 15 minutes (that same trip by car would probably take 20-30 minutes).
An hour and 15 minutes to get to church? I don't know anyone who would be willing to do that. I might hold a record for the longest commute time to church! And in another state? Who goes to church in another state? So, I'd like to hear your opinions and any similar stories if you have any. I don't think there's a Guiness World Record for this, but if there were, I wonder if I would win?

I like going to different parish Churches within my faith since a change in family circumstances made it uneasy for me to attend my own Church. My favourite is the Cathedral in a neighbouring city from the one in which I live. It involves a bus ride of about an hour and a quarter, but I make a day of it and spend time dining and attending the galleries and exhibitions in the city.

Um, I doubt you have any record going for you, sorry. I've gone to church 45 min away by car (just the trip there), and I doubt that's anything still. You have to remember back when cars weren't popular, in the country side when people were super church oriented, how far some of them probably walked on Sundays.

Personally, I'm not willing to travel one foot to go to church. Not that I haven't enjoyed and admired the aesthetic beauty of the ancient churches and cathedrals I visited over the years, but I have absolutely no interest in organized religion beyond that.
