Seriously, where isn't there a "Sodaholics Anonymous"?
So, I'm obviously aware of "Alcoholics Anonymous" and "Narcotics Anonymous," but caffeine/sugar is AS MUCH of an addiction as alcohol or narcotics. I myself am a "sodaholic"! I mean, sometimes I might stop "cold turkey" for a while, but then I relapse and start drinking soda again, usually Pepsi or Coke, or Root Beer (but rarely other kinds). It just tastes so good! I only drink 1 (rarely 2-3) cans a day, but it's the "dependency" on soda that matters. I just HAVE to get my lips on a nice, cold soda when I get home from work (especially being a blue-collar worker out in the heat all day this time of year).
As for alcohol, I save that for ONLY special occasions, and even then, I only drink beer (not wine and never hard liquor). I ask myself, "Why can't I do that for soda?"
I know how hard life is not just for the alcoholics themselves, but also for the families of alcoholics...domestic violence (even murders), drunk driving accidents, health problems, etc. But I have a REAL anger problem!!!! And studies show that too much caffeine and sugar can have a negative effect on anger! Soda can also lead to diabetes and other health problems.
I once asked a pastor if I, as a sodaholic, could attend AA, but he said I would not be taken seriously and most likely be asked to leave. But I can't help but wonder why sodaholics can't follow a "12-step program" like alcoholics? As stated, caffeine is as much of an addiction as alcohol. After all, caffeine is a DRUG too, but a legal drug (just like alcohol and tobacco!).
I'm not sure what my question is...but I guess for two points, perhaps your opinion on why society focuses so much on alcohol and drug addictions, but hardly ever on caffeine addictions?

Actually, I think your question is a very good one, and I myself, am a serious Sodaholic.
ONE can a day? That's hardly an addiction. I polish off a 1.5 Liter of Coke A DAY.
I can't get enough of the stuff. I know drinking too much is no good for me......but like you say...........it's just soooooooooooooo damn GOOD on a hot day............a nice ice cold bottle of Coke, or over ice, or with Chocolate ice cream even..............a nice Coke Float............damn,, that is good stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!
I once tried giving it up, cold turkey..........and Jesus, I am NOT kidding........... worst 5 minutes of my life.!!!!!!!!!!!! I started getting massive headaches..........and so I reached for a bottle of Coke to make myself feel better.......and the headaches went away, right away.
I am seriously, seriously hooked on the stuff.
And Pepsi will not do. I practically wretch when people give me Pespi, instead of COKE.
Dr Pepper is good......Mr. Pibb is good.....I like Cream soda, and yeah, an occasional root beer.
But 95% of the time......it's just COCA-Cola. No cheap sh*t substitute brands either........it's gotta be the REAL THING-.
I hear ya brother...........
Perhaps the reason there are no Sodaholic meetings, is because Soda addicts would never voluntarily go. You'll get my Coke, when you pry the bottle out of my cold dead hands!
When Mayor Bloomberg tried to institute that STUPID law, saying I was limited to 16 OZ, by LAW.................okay, NOW it's time for the torches and pitch forks, and to march on City Hall.
Don't tell me how much soda I am allowed to drink. I would have fought that law to my DEATH.
Good thing it was struck down as UNCONSTITUTIONALLY sound.
You're damn skippy straight it was. Give me my Big Gulps , or give me DEATH!
There's no flex on this one!

Probably because nearly everyone in the business world is hooked on some form of caffeine.
Coffee, energy drinks, or in your case, soda.
They don't really think caffeine can hurt you, since well, it's kind of the norm to consume it.
Of course - too much of anything can poison you, and I do agree that any kind of habit is a bad habit.
And addictions? Those are the black sheep of the habit family tree.
Any addiction deserves to be dealt with.
You might want to talk to people about starting a group. If they don't take you seriously, I'd reccomend finding some help on your own.
Hope everything works out!

Maybe try over-eaters anonymous. They're about eating only for hunger and health, and not for emotional reasons or addictions. A lot of them have sugar addictions. Even though your vice is a beverage and not food, you might be able to benefit from the program.

Well anything can become addicting. Personally I love regular pepsi and coke. There is nothing like a cold fizzy drink! Moderation in all you do!!!

As to your original "question"... I'm sure there are millions of places "where there isn't a socaholics anonymous".
As to WHY (which I guess what your question was supposed to be)... get off your butt and form a chapter... go to an AA meeting, buy a "big blue book" and copy the 12 step program.
Or, I'm sure one of those PLUSH rehab centers would take your money...

according to caffeineaddictioneffects.com, there are clinics in every US state, and in every European country that deal specifically with caffeine addiction.
So, help is out there if you want it.
