What's wrong with My Kenmore 253.70051 AC unit?
Last summer I bought a Kenmore 253.70051 5,200 BTU AC unit for my Bedroom. From Day 1 it never worked properly. It has always blown "cool" air but never enough (even after running for hours at a time with all windows and doors sealed) to cool my bedroom which is all I bought it for. It seems to turn between the modes fine and I know it is not just the fan going because when I switch it from Fan Mode to "Cool" there is a noticeable difference but even on the coldest setting it is not cooling my room.
What is wrong with it? How much do you suppose it would cost to fix it? Is it even worth it?

Was it new when you bought it? From what you have described, it sounds like it may be low of refrigerant. If that is indeed the case, it's time to buy a new window unit. They are not very serviceable beyond minor repairs. 99% of them don't even have service valves to hook up gauges, which makes it impossible to add refrigerant. It wouldn't be cost effective anyhow. The amount of money it would cost to repair it wouldn't be worth it. You can just buy a brand new one for not much more than you would pay to fix it.
