In the water, how far away do you need to be from lightning to not feel it?

Saw this picture http://t.co/WssjnoyJzt posted by @Earth_Pics on Twitter (must follow!) and was just curious.

    It really depends, some lightining strikes are stronger than others. Anytime you are in the water during the thunderstorm you are definitely putting yourself in danger. If you are within 100 feet of a lightning strike, there is a good chance that a lot of damage is going to be done.

    Not all that far (~20') which is one reason why there aren't massive fish kills every time lightning strikes a body of water.

    Keep in mind...lightning tends to strike the highest point which...in this case...could be your head.

    well you should be far enough away that you cant se it almost like miles away, because water is a fine conductor of electricity. So if your in a lake or pool in a lightning storm, GET OUT!
