I don't like to blame the umpiring, but yesterday was shizenhouse?
Port Adelaide had their first loss of the season yesterday, and recently I've felt the umpires deserve more respect, but their performance in the Hobart match yesterday was seriously questionable. Something's not right when the free kick count is 38-15.
We lost and I'm going to have to accept that and move on, but just thought I'd raise the question to anyone who may have witnessed the game yesterday.
I can say they got us at a good time because Hinkey was unable to coach and I'd sure like to know the result of a match the last time there was a difference of 23 free kicks. To think we almost won still. 10 points...come on! Excuses aren't going to overturn the result for us, I know, just stating my hard opinion.
Just in case you need more proof of the umpires screwing Port out of our 6th consecutive win yesterday...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijOP1iWJ6-w
@YAHOO, I know right! and the sad thing is that the AFL will be aware of that and they'll just sweep it under the rug and pretend nothing happened.

I've seen a lot of games in my life of Aussie Rules, Port gave the usual big lead to the opposition, even then the umpires had to assist North across the line.
Well done Port even in defeat on the scoreboard.
38 to 15 free kicks against at final siren, 26 to 05 at half time. North 8 free kicks in forward 50.
A 50 metre penalty that was closer to 70 metres.
Absolutely pathetic umpiring and equally pathetic responses from Geishen on a number of games, he needs to go.
Don't normally complain about umpires, what goes around, comes around but never for any club like Port had to endure.
Doubt North will ever get a win so easily again because of bad umpiring, umpires will certainly be under the notice of every club they play from now on.
Teams need to be allowed to play on a level playing field, which doesn't seem to be the case at the moment.
Hopefully Mr Demetriou takes notice of this week's debacle.

McInerney is a disgrace - the second worst umpire... right behind Chamberlain.
I thought I saw him get a drink from the North runner too. Was that what I caught a bit before that?
The trouble is that technically virtually every impact in this game could be called a free kick in some way. That's reality now whether you get someone in the back, side, front on, low, high and these guys can get away with the subtleties of paying or not paying kicks.
More importantly though, just pay attention to how long players get before the 'move it on, play on call' and how long they get between each call. I timed it last weekend because I was frustrated. The fastest I heard was against West Coast actually - less than 2 seconds from the player standing up to 'move it on' (this happens a lot to the Cats). The next fastest was against Port - four or five times it was less than my count of three seconds.
Next watch what players are allowed to do before it's called play on. North were allowed to run around in circles and feign handballs. Port, Geelong, West Coast only had to shift their eyes slightly sideways and the 'play on call' goes up. Collingwood cop a caning with this too. The GCS and GWS game the other week featured several cases of players running a full circle before the play on call.
Next watch how far a player is allowed to run. Was it a Wells goal where he ran a full 60 metres with one bounce? I saw one of those on the weekend too. Just can't remember who. It's laughable these days even needing a bounce because they rarely enforce it

I'm not going to say that the umpiring did that, they let a team get another big lead on them and they couldn't wind it back in (5 goals vs adelaide, 7 vs west coast) you keep doing that, you will lose.
But, that said the umpiring was pretty terrible, they should be sacked it's as simple as that really. Ofcourse umpire boss gieshen will look at them with puppy dog eyes and say they are perfect, it's like his job i think.

Don't worry you're not alone thinking the umpires were absolute shizcakes yesterday, what was with calling holding the ball when someone gets tackled straight after they pick it up and try to punch off their own face getting rid of it but still get pinged?
And did you see Kochie's tweet halfway through the game? 'Out of interest what's the frees count?'
Port would've been in it if it weren't for some terrible decisions...

The umps were shocking against both SA teams yesterday. Arguably cost both SA teams victory in their respective matches.

@Joe, it was scott thompson. He hardly touched one of the hawthorn players and he paid the free kick. then a 50m penalty. then hawks kicked a goal from that.
That footage should be looked at of wells and the ump. there could something going on there. wells was sort of like thanks and he patted him.
