Ken Hinkley not able to coach Port Adelaide this weekend?
In an unusual event, Power coach Ken Hinkley is not allowed to coach this weekend due to a virus & severe back pains and he is currently recovering in hospital.
Alan Richardson will be his temporary replacement. So what does everyone think of this? Just though I'd toss it on here since it's uncommon and interesting what's happening right now. They just told Alan on AFL 360 to not "muck up" our 5-0 start to the season, so there's pressure on him right there, and at least this provides us with a half-decent excuse if we lose hahaha :p

Yeah seems fair enough, if the head coach is unable to do is job for whatever reason, then it's the assistant coaches job to take over. Ken will be fine, and back next week, it will be interesting to see how Allan goes. He would have done a lot of talking and working with Ken since he took over at Port Adelaide, so he will know the game plan and the players strengths and weaknesses. I wouldn't worry too much, I would suspect that he will be coaching very similar to the way Ken would, and Ken should be able to keep in touch with him over the duration on the game, so he won't go speechless. I still think the most interesting part will be to see how Port Adelaide and North Melbourne match up, don't get me wrong, Port Adelaide have been good and played good thus far. And North Melbourne are 1-4, but it's going to be a tough battle, you have to think, if luck was on North's side, they could possible be 5-0. Played very well against Collingwood, could've beaten Geelong, had las years premiers round 3 in Sydney, smashed Brisbane round 4, and came very close to beating Hawthorn. Port Adelaide have had some easy wins, GWS, Gold Coast, Melbourne, and the Adelaide win was good, however Adelaide haven't really been to competitive this year. Then again, despite West Coasts injuries and the fact that they also haven't been overwhelmingly competitive this year also, they were way in control of Port Adelaide in the 3rd quarter, and they came back and had a great win, and thats important. Anyway Iv'e babbled on enough.

8.5, despite profitable then loosing 5 straight games, Port have a significantly better list now in comparison with 2010, 2011 and 2012. Additionally, i've noticed how Port don't "Fade out" no more. They've become the total reverse this 12 months.

It's not unusual that a one week stand in coach has occurred, in fact in the 50's and 60's when Victoria played interstate matches, they were always coached by a current club coach, so that club would need to appoint a coach, usually the assistant or reserves coach for the day.

Sounds pretty sensible to me.
Peter Schwab was replaced for one game by Chris Connolly back in 2000. Was probably a good move considering Schwab had an irregular heart beat and winning with a kick after the siren may have been too much!

Probably got that god awful stomach bug I got when I went to Adelaide. Went to Cirque du Soleil over in the park and only just made it back to the hotel ... reckon it was Adelaide "water"
It's a funny (unusual) situation though hey? Won't make that much difference. The team is well drilled by the time they get there.

Well if the boys can come from 41 points down to win last weeks game for Kane Corns in his 250th. it will be very interesting to see how they perform for their new coach in his absence. reckon it will spur them on in the second half of the game if they are close enough to win.
Cheers.
