Has anyone had trouble with travel insurance?

Has anyone had trouble over SAGA travel insurance renewals due to changes in their policy on cancer. Apparently they changed their rules over covering people who have had cancer and now exclude anyone who has had cancer for 10 years rather than 5 as previously. If you have faced this problem who did you then go to for travel insurance. Until today I had always thought that SAGA were the best of the best but now I'm not so sure.

Update:

Good point from Pickle - I have just contacted a friend who is a broker for an alternative quote, we did use a broker in the first place 7 years ago but have just done automatic renewals with them since because they seemed so good.

A piece of advise for ALL insurance

NEVER ignore the renewal- ALWAYS check you are getting a good deal. (and leave plenty of time before renewal to do it)

But ALWAYS check the policies with your existing company and any other you are thinking about- they may look the same but can have signicantly different coverage,

(personally I dont change unless the cost saving is significant)

Your terrific wager is to obtain rates from coverage companies that furnish on line rates for kin shuttle and team shuttle The broking provider Portal lists the best 5 reported kin and team shuttle coverage companies which incorporates HSBC, Halifax and Insure and pass who promote lots on television.

Go through an insurance broker when you buy insurance. It cost you no more and this is what they do each and every day, so they know.

Yes - SAGA did the dirty on my sister and I - they changed their rules on cancer WITHOUT informing their customers. When we tried to renew our policy with some changes we were turned down and said that we should not have been renewed the year before when their rules changed. They reclassified my sister's ongoing need for synthetic thyroxine as continuing cancer treatment following thyroid cancer and the removal of her gland - this is nonsensical but they would not be moved on it at all. We contacted WHICH who are running a campaign on this sort of thing and they gave us references to several sets of legislation to refer to in correspondence with them. We couldn't get cover from them but we did at least get our money back for the previous year's premiums and some compensation. If you contact WHICH you can find out who gives the best cover for your particularly type of cancer, there isn't one best company it depends on personal circumstances. The key point is that they did not publicise the changes and did not point them out to us - when my sister filled in the online form there was no mention of the change there either, but we were later sent a letter refusing cover on the grounds of her "continuing treatment".
