Why do people think U2 are the best band in the world?
...when they aren't even the best band in Ireland?
I've heard it said.
@TonyR that information is completely irrelevant.
It's not people I've met who have said it - it's how people on TV talk about them, they're always described as being the "world's greatest band" and all that bumf. Maybe it's just on English TV.

-They've got one of the best selling albums of all time (The Joshua Tree)
-They've Sold 150 Million Records and Counting
-They've Won 22 Grammys more than any other Band or Singer.

Maybe not THE best, but they have stood the test of time on a consistent basis. Most of the popular bands have 1-2 good albums and then disappear into oblivion.

Because they're youth is slipping away, and they remember how socially aware and young U2 made them feel 20 years ago. x'D
