1. The Smashing Pumpkins - I love the Pumpkins, they were better than Nirvana and my favorite of the era. Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie never get old when playing them, and I actually like Billy Corgan's voice.
2. Soundgarden - Chris Cornell was most definetly the best vocalist in the 90's. Not many rock vocalist could scream and hit notes like Cornell could. Their music was also highly underrated when compared to Nirvana and PJ, and why they weren't more commercially successful is beyond me.
3. Alice In Chains - Layne Staley was a legend, and Dirt is the definiton of grunge to me.
4. Nirvana/Pearl Jam - I honestly love bands equally, and couldn't put either band below the other. Both Nevermind and Ten are classic albums that defined a generation, even if they are overplayed by rock stations all over the US, and overshadowed a lot of other bands that were much better, they are still classics.
5. Stone Temple Pilots - I was never a STP fan. To me they were the opposite of grunge was, and they were the butt rock verison of grunge. I find Weiland's vocals to be a complete rip-off of Vedder's and Staley's vocals, and I liked their first album, I hated everything after that.
