Time to Boycott China?

With the 2011 carbon emissions numbers in, we find that China is not only the biggest carbon emitter, but increasing at an unbelievable 10% per year:

The 2011 figures for the biggest polluters:

1. China, up 10 percent to 10 billion tons.

2. United States, down 2 percent to 5.9 billion tons

3. India, up 7 percent to 2.5 billion tons.

4. Russia, up 3 percent to 1.8 billion tons.

5. Japan, up 0.4 percent to 1.3 billion tons.

6. Germany, down 4 percent to 0.8 billion tons.

7. Iran, up 2 percent to 0.7 billion tons.

8. South Korea, up 4 percent to 0.6 billion tons.

9. Canada, up 2 percent to 0.6 billion tons.

10. South Africa, up 2 percent to 0.6 billion tons.

Given the warmist position that CO2 emissions are a clear and present danger to life everywhere, when will we see a worldwide backlash against the Chinese polluting our future?

Or do they get a pass because they are formerly downtrodden Third Worlders, and only the 1st World has to alter their lifestyle to Save The Planet?

Seriously: If CO2 is such a danger, when do the picket lines at the Chinese Embassy and Wal-Mart start?

We have given a pass to people like Maurice Strong with his big carbon footprint, Al Gore and his many houses, our government with needlessly busing children to far away schools,Michell Obama for taking a plane one hour earlier than her husband and taking extra vacations, letting traffic engineers create traffic jams and many other actions that consume energy needlessly.

Why not give them a pass? We are not going to cut CO2 in earnest and the reason the high mickey mucks know that AGW and CACC isn't true. So it is just a method of managing us.

Good idea - we will be inspired by your lead.

Start by shunning all electronic products using China produced materials. Dont forget the cell phones, computers, cameras (including components). No more Apple of course or most Nikon lenses

Next , you really need to cut down on food - most of the pesticides used to produce your food comes from China. Lobby Congress to bring production back to USA - not transfer it to some other developing country where you can rip off the locals (remember Union Carbide - the criminal enterprise?)

Textiles, shoes etc ...... dont buy any more from China. as well as tools

Cut out the cosmetics - many of the chemicals are made in China so that US is not a toxic wasteland like NJ was

When you have done all that , come back here & let & know & we will celebrate your renouncing of US hypocrisy

Using the stats you cited, for example, the USA and Canada are far worse polluters on a per capita basis. We should work to reduce pollution whatever the source.

China on a per capita basis roughly equals the EU in CO2 production, US output is still double compared to China and the EU on that basis.

I want all countries to do more about reducing greenhouse gases, but until we make commitments to reduce CO2 output, we can not demand from others to do what we refuse to do ourselves. So lets start at home first and THEN use diplomacy and even trade sanctions to get other nations to follow.

Will you continue to deny the science and obstruct the political solutions required to deal with this global problem, or do you want to be part of the solution?

The U.S. is blocked by the House of Representatives from negotiating with China to reduce their CO2. So, while the U.S. reduces emissions by more than any other country in the world, due largely to the Executive Branch, we do nothing about China and we suffer the results.

This question has a parallel to questions I ask from time to time about alarmists jetting around the globe or leaving their SUV idling while giving lectures on how the rest of us need to "change our lifestyle".

Your question and my parallels fit the hypothesis that warmists are not actually concerned about CO2 emissions but that this issue is about something else. My guess is that it's mainly about money and anyone who thinks that's far-fetched has been living in a cave all their life.

There is some genius here though. The people who are going to benefit financially like the Goldman-Sachs or green energy investors are just as much staunch capitalist opportunists as anybody but they have the support of hippies and greens and anti-capitalists and anti-globalists and probably a large assortment of Marxists, Socialists and Communists.

I wonder what's going to happen when they realize all they've been doing is supporting the building of a new type of corporation and business infrastructure, perhaps even bigger and more powerful than before.

Show of hands who wants Goldman-Sachs and JP Morgan to have more power and wealth?

then what? you'll be the first to complain that life sucks because you're not getting the merchandise you have come accustomed to.

so much for that idea hummmmmmmmm? it's all in YOUR convenience.

learn what it's really about before you put your fist down in defeat.

Co2 is not a danger to life everywhere, it "feeds" plants, and then plants give us oxygen, and our atmosphere is so vast, I don't think its our main problem. but I see what your saying about the pollution, and chemicals causing acid rain, and destroying habitats. so yea its time to boycott.
