Like in the Rugby WC, what do you think of a Bronze Cup Final in AFL?
In Rugby World Cups, there's a Bronze Final. The two teams that lose the semi-finals and thus not qualifying for the final, play off in a game for the Bronze Final. The two teams that played in this game in the last World Cup (2011) were Australia and Wales.
As you all know, Sydney and Hawthorn played in this year's AFL Grand Final. If there was a Bronze Final in AFL, Adelaide and Collingwood would have sqaured off, since they lost their Preliminary Final matches.
What do you think of this?
Good point A-MAN. The Crows for example, if they had to play following their heart-breaking Preliminary Final loss, they wouldn't feel up to it and it would take away the feeling of 'two teams left' as you said mate and it makes the Preliminary Final losses somewhat pointless, if they're going to be playing the week after.
Randomness, going by this season, Adelaide would have the home game in this match since they finished higher on the ladder by Collingwood, and lost by a smaller margin. But that's just my way of seeing it.

Personally, I think neither of the teams would be up to playing again after the dissapointment of missing out on the GF, especially in the Crows case for example seeing how they were 5 points off. Also, it takes away the feeling of 'two teams left' at the end of the prelims.

No thanks. For example, how do you decide where it will be played, if the teams don't have the same home ground?
Those things in world cups are more for overall world rankings. AFL doesn't have that, results of games 12 months ago don't help decide the ladder this year.

No way I'm afraid - maybe I'm negative this morning (I've answered 'no' to every question).
It would detract from the GF and it would risk injury in a game that would mean very very little. I'd rather the boys got their Wacky Wednesday out of the way (and weren't they just lovely to the media?) and then start thinking about next year.

Nah not for me mate, I think we leave that to the Rugby world cup, i don't how players get themselves up to play for 3rd, no one would go, i know i wouldn't go to watch Richmond play off for 3rd that's for sure.

That to me, for the clubs, be a non event as nobody would care as it would be the grand final medallions or bust

Naaa Not at all - 3rd place is Rubbish , Neither team would try and there would be a risk of injury !
