Do Christians hate gays so much because?
they're subconsciously terrified that Jesus himself was gay?

No, you want to know the real reason why christians hate gays so much? because of repression.
Think about it: christians are taught that 'sin' is bad... killing, lying, cheating, swearing, dancing, drinking, sex, coveting, obsessing, gambling, etc....
Basically, EVERYTHING is potentially, 'sinful'. So, when one lives under such rules of oppression, they learn to repress their desires.... desires which are 'normal' to human beings (not necessarily good/legal, but normal).
So, when the church finally tells them/gives them permission to 'hate gays'... christians do it with much zeal and gratefulness. They can finally vent all that pent up anger against a group of innocent people whom the 'church/god' has 'allowed' them to hate with all their heart. And hate they will because that truly is in their heart.
