Port Adelaide finally secure a coach, and possibly Angus Monfries there?
http://www.news.com.au/news/ken-hinkley-wins-port-...
Ken Hinkley has got the coaching job at Port Adelaide. I think he'll be good, big wraps for him, even Crows coach Brenton Sanderson talked him up, and he'd know him well since they worked for so long at Kardina Park.
Also, rumors flowing that Angus Monfries has been offered a 4 year contract, so we look like getting him.
Your thoughts?
shifty, I'm happy with Ken Hinkley as our coach. There's big wraps for him and he was even talked up to be Bomber Thompson's succsessor after 2009. In regards to Chad Wingard, he is a very talented youngester. He's got pace, skills, goal sense and shows confidence on the field at such a young age. I'm a bit worried about the "second year blues" for him but hopefully he can avoid them :)
Biggus Dickus, yes Peter Rohde hasn't had much succsess over his time. He was a failure at the Western Bulldogs and isn't doing much for us. He's a nice guy and all, but I think it's time for him to move on, for the benefit of the club.
Richmond Faithful, yes you're right. Every club goes through this period Port Adelaide are currently in. Around 2002 and 2003, Geelong were struggling to win games and were in deep financial trouble. Now look what they've achievied in the last few years. In 2004, Hawthorn were struggling to win games, had a sacked
coach and were very much like Port are now. Luke Hodge stuck with the club through all the hard times, (he also re-signed again in 2007) and now look at Hodge, and the Hawthorn FC.
Most of the media are Anti-Port Adelaide, and sadly, some people will believe anything. As for Angus Monfries, he's a quality player and a South Australian so I think he'll be good for us. If he's lazy as you said, Hinkley should give him a bit of a rocket.

great post. thanks for asking.
I was really getting worried about the senior coaching job at Port as most of the candidates that the club had interviewed had either declined the position. or the club had decided that they were not suitable for the job. so the field was getting narrowed by the minute.
Ken Hinkley has done a great job at the Suns in his short stint as an assistant coach he will be missed. but one clubs loss is another clubs gain. so from that perspective. he is ready to take this job on to give his up most all. so as a Port supporter. you should be happy. i know i would.
As for Angus Monfries. he will be a great acquisition to the club if he signs on for them. definitely a step in the right direction as far as i can see. considering the players that have jumped ship from the club so far in trades already. Danial Pearce is a serious loss. but i do expect Chad Wyngard to take the next step next season. he has outstanding talent one to look out for in D.t. & S.C. teams for next season.
cheers.

I really hope that Port can shut a lot of critics up next year. People are quick to forget that ALL clubs go through tough times. For example Richmond are just now coming out of 'tough times' that's lasted 30 years!
So glad that Port announced their coach now hopefully they can get some things moving in terms of preparation for 2013!
I've also hear that Monfries has signed a four year deal. Not sure if he's a player Port really need but I hope he proves me wrong. He's talented but lazy!

What does 'stell' mean? As L.E.O stated, a lot of players get homesick at the present time, and Angus Monfries used to be one in all them, on the grounds that he's a South Australian. Additionally, why would Essendon care considering that they acquired Brendon Goddard? Given the current state the PAFC is in, and has been in for the least two years, it could be a significant ask to move play for Port Adelaide to steer them out of the rut. You obtained to recognize Angus, who's a pleasant participant who is coming to help out a struggling club. Now, there is no cause to hate Port just seeing that we got one of your avid gamers. How do you feel Crows lovers felt when Kurt Tippet said he wanted to move to Sydney? Sharrod Wellingham is going to West Coast, so that you see? It's no longer simply Essendon losing Monfries. Suck it up princess!

Probably something they should've done initially instead of going for Primus, who through no fault of his own was a product of Mark Williams. Very highly regarded, in regards to tactics and man management, who would've benefited from dealing with all the young blokes at GC. Perhaps Port are finally hauling themselves out of the collosal dung heap their in.
Now they just need to get rid of Peter Rhode.
