because it's the source of all life on this planet. We owe the sun everything
If not for the sun, our planet would just a ball of dead lifeless rock flying around on its own in the dark

Whenever we think of God or heaven we always think of light don't we? light is so beautiful isn't it? and where does light come from? the sun!
So really we should all start praying to the sun but we don't do we because we know the sun isn't a god
We know the sun is just a giant ball of burning gas made up mostly of hydrogen and helium atoms so even if we did pray to the sun, its unlikely our prays would get answered
But then you religious folk are already used to that aren't you?

People did worship the sun God before. I think that was a bit before the real God sent those plagues at them, something about letting his people go. Maybe I am thinking of the wrong ancient civilization.

By that criteria, water is God; carbon is God; ultimately, the hydrogen atoms from which all these things, including the Sun, originally formed are God.
The word God is rendered meaningless in this framework.

Of course thats why the primitive people did worship the Sun and the Sun God Rama. It was someting much more obvious to worship as it could be seen it gave us our heat and our light. and must have seemed all powerfull. In fact anything in nature could be seen and we needed.
