Why does it say my Windows 7 isn't genuine?
I just turned my laptop on and in the lower right corner it says:
Windows 7
Build 5601
This copy of Windows is not genuine
How do I fix this? I've had my laptop for about 3 years and it's never said anything about this.
I should note that I re-validated it on the Windows website, but when I restarted my computer the message came back.

For legitimate copies of Windows, there is a false-positive bug in the software. Microsoft fixed this months ago with a Windows update. If you have a legitimate copy, you are simply missing this update. Do you not update your laptop with the udpates? If not, you should be. This is what keeps the software healthy and functioning correctly.
So if this applies to you go to microsoft.com click on the downloads button and manually get caught up on your missing updates.

Windows did a patch for this issue quite awhile back. If you don't do the udates it will keep doing this. There was a bug in one of there files.

How did you get your computer? Did you buy it new? If not then you may have a pirated copy of Windows.
