Do I need more than a good graphic card to play games on my laptop?

I just downloaded my first "big" game (ARMA 2) off of STEAM and it runs ok on the lowest graphic setting, a little laggy, but tolerable. I plan to upgrade my graphic card but is that alone going to be enough to improve the performance? And what is the most common graphic card for these games?

Graphic cards alone will do what you need, but I suggest you run the games on a desktop. It has more potential to upgrade.
