Why do religions rate and punish sexual deviations worse than actual crimes?
In the laws of Mose, practice of sexual deviations like homosexuality, adultery or bestiality commonly deserves capital punishment, although nobody is harmed by it (except the abuse of the poor animals in bestiality).
But many really violent acts just require a material restitution and moderate punishment.
Islamic Sharia law is similar.
Even today, Christian and other fanatics target homosexuality, adultery and "fornication" far more than actually harmful crimes.
Why?

Is there currently a punishment for homosexuality, adultery, or fornication? No there is not. The reasons these are targeted more by Christians is because they are considered morally wrong, yet they are becoming more accepted in society. And what harmful crimes don't already receive a punishment?

It really shows how backwards, illogical, and irrational those religious doctrines and scriptures were written, huh?
BTW, bestiality is not automatically abusive or harmful to the animal. When it's fully consensual and mutually pleasurable there is no abuse or harm done just the same as if the two sex partners were human. IMO, actual abuse and rape should be very harshly punished regardless of the species of the victim.

That's what religious morality is about. They care far more about what people do in the privacy of their own homes than they care about actions which hurt others.
Atheists tend to have moral values based on how their actions affect others. The Abrahamic religions base their moral codes on strict sexual laws designed for a patriarchal society. It's two completely different value systems.
You see that fairly often here. Some believer will ask a question about how immoral the world is today, and what they mean is that homosexuality and premarital sex are accepted. The fact that we got rid of slavery, made racism socially unacceptable, passed child labor laws, made pedophilia a major crime - none of that matters. They don't care about any of that. Only the sexual behavior of unmarried adults counts toward the morality of a nation.

Two reasons.
First, because the rules were written for a desert tribe of hunter/gatherers or early farmers, for whom life was a daily struggle to survive. People needed to have babies for the tribe to flourish, and behaviours that discouraged having babies were hazardous to the whole tribe.
Second, because it's a way of setting "Us" (those who follow the religion) apart from "Them" (who don't). Humans want to have sex for physical pleasure and emotional bonding, so denyingthose acts helps show that you're part of the group.

Because some Satan influenced jerk wants to act "as god" and express his/her "knowledge of good and evil." This "knowledge," which is defined in law, God forbid man to have because without a law to define them, sin, sinners, crime, criminals, and evil, would not exist. Acceptance of this Satan approved "knowledge" got Adam and Eve kicked out of Eden.

Because they have always sought to control human nature, and the act of trying to control and dominate humanity and their nature is a far worse crime than both.

Behavior is the word you leave out. Sometimes we just don't want ugly behavior around us. I don't want to see two queers kissing. This is sickening, I don't want it around. But some things I can't do anything about, but those that I can I will depending on the issue and the time and effort spent. I prefer the traditional family aroma.

What could be worse than 'eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth, and life for life'?
The main problem is we have become lenient toward crime and that is why crime flourishes.
