If you go to a Community College, can you transfer those years over to go to a college or University?

Generally speaking...most credits from community colleges will transfer to a 4year college/university. You would not have to start at the beginning if you took classes at community college.

What amount and what classes transfer though is up to the college/university you are transferring to...and if you apply and get accepted as a transfer student they will go over with you what will transfer.

People go to community college all the time to either, bring up their GPA in order to get into a better 4 yr school or to simply take their general education requirements for cheaper.

You can usually transfer classes. But what classes you can transfer depends on the CC and the 4 year college. There is usually a transfer advisor at both the CC and the 4 year school, so talk to them.

These days, lots of people are doing that to save money. However, some colleges have quit taking transfer students. That's why I suggest talking to both places.

In some states, they have a dual enrollment program. The records show you enrolled in both the 2 year and 4 year colleges, but you take the classes for the first two years at the CC. Your transcript will reflect the four year when you change and it makes transfer a lot easier.
