Is it customary for men to wear engagement rings?

I know that normally women get the fancy engagement ring with the diamond on it, but do men wear an engagement ring? I recently got engaged and am wondering if I should just wear a simple band (nothing fancy, no diamonds) but have a ring to symbolize that I'm the other half of that equation?

No. The symbol of the wedding ring is customary. I suppose u could get a ring to symbolize the engagement but I personally would want to see it come from your fiance if you were to get one. It would mean more than buying it yourself.

In the USA it is not customary that men wear an engagement ring.  In other countries and culture it not uncommon.

it is very rare for a man to wear an engagement ring. the reason for that is because engagement rings are gifts given to a woman by the man as a symbol of her acceptance of his proposal and promise to marry him. if the engagement is broken for some reason, most state laws require the woman to return the ring. 

the man does not wear a ring until he accepts his wedding ring at the marriage ceremony.

No, not usually. A woman is usually the only one who wears an engagement ring.

Most of the time a guy gets his ring at the wedding. Usually their rings are much more simple, of tungsten or another type of metal.

No, only because most women don't give their betrothed an engagement ring. And it doesn't count if you have to buy your own.
