Secret service protection?

I know that all former presidents maintain a secret service detail to protect them for the rest of their lives, my question is if the ex-president moves to a different country would this be affected? What if any difference would this make on the security detail?

Prior to 1997 e-Presidents got SS protection for life. Clinton is the last to qualify. All others will get it for 10 years after leaving office.

First off, I don't see where an ex-President would move to another country...unless he was on some sort of a diplomatic post as an Ambassador or something, but if they did I can see where the need for coverage would still exist and would go with them. It would be quite the PR nightmare if a former President moved to another country (for what ever reason) and was murdered by some foreign group/individual. The embarrassment to the US would be too great.

The new policy is 2 years after the presidency. Even the federal government has limits to their budget these days.

    2 years.

This 2-year period gives everyone involved a chance to change policy and procedure drastically enough that the last set isn't too revealing, if at all.

Wrong that lifetime protection is no longer.

bush will be protected for ten years, as will all future presidents
