Isn't the PCI slot on a motherboard already long ago obsolete?

Question

I recently chanced upon several PCI video cards (not PCIe, I looked at the pictures) on ebay that have 512mb ddr2 or ddr3 memory on them.  One of the cards is said to have even cross-fire capability.  Will such a card allow me to stream HD movies though my really old emachines T2894 to my HDTV?  Specs for my emachines are: 2.8Ghz intel pentium 4/533/1M, 2gb ddr1 memory, 60gb pata hard drive.

If the PCI video card has HDMI, DisplayPort, DVI or VGA out, then it should be able to output HD video.

Do note that the card will need to be HDCP certified, otherwise your Blu-Ray movie may not play through it.

I've never heard of regular PCI crossfire cards. I think you have bad info or misinterpreted the picture. To give you a concise answer, it would help to have more information about the video card(s)... but generally speaking: P4, Regular PCI Video Card, and HD movies do not belong in the same sentence. It might work but it would definitely be a little choppy.

They put system specs on boxes now, pretty cool.

But yes, a video card with HDMI out will play to a HDTV. Your system specs should not be a problem, but check the video cards box (or on-line specs) to be sure.

no not at all most basic cards are still pci like network and most sound there are still alot and unless the card has a hdmi out no it wont and hdmi out wont be on pci not hdmi in you have to make sure it says hdmi out or ask the ***. about it cuz in will not allow you to stream from the tower.
