Employer sent out p45,no reason for dismissal or notice?!?
Advice on what I should do next would be great!

Ask them for the dismissal in writing and give them a letter for an appeal hearing and get a lawyer as it will be free if you are unemployed, unless you have recently started employment with this company then there is nothing you can do - partner going through the same at the moment and been with company for 10 years.

It depends. What country are you in? Were you a permanent employee, or contractor/part time?
People saying they dont have to give a reason, its not entirely accurate.

Was there an accompanying letter with the P45?
Take your P45 with you when you register at the job centre
