Does the tenant have to pay for agent fees?

Question

I managed to find a condo unit to rent for 2 years, with the cost above $3500 a month. I just signed the papers, and the agent is asking for half a month's commission from me. Isn't the commission solely from the owner of the house? I know that the owner is paying a commission too. The property agent did not inform us about us needing to pay him originally.

Usually both parties pay the agent a fee.

If you do not agree on the fee you are welcome to rent elsewhere.

What do the papers say?  If they say you owe the agent 1/2 months rent and you signed then you owe the money.

no you in basic terms ought to pay the down fee in-case something gets broken if something does then you definately will lose that if no longer something does get broken then you definately get that lower back while the settlement ends

Your choice to use an agency.  The agency is a business providing a service.  Would you really set yourself up as a service, paying for premises and staff and then give out your service for free?  How would your business survive with no income?
