Native American symbol meaning?

For Christmas a family member gifted me a necklace with a charm. The charm is in the shape of a hand and it has a swirl on the palm. She said it was a Native American symbol, does anyone know what it means?

    It SAYS it is the Hopi symbol for friendship. Funny thing though, I live right near the Hopi and I've never seen it before.

    edit***just found out where it is from. The petraglyphs on the stone canyon walls have a symbol like that. But it's from the Anasazi people, not the Hopi, and no one knows what it means.
