I was told by a Pastor that I was in disobedience because I am not a member of a church, your thoughts on this?
I had been visiting the church's bible study, and was invited on sunday (today), so I went, sowed my seed because the bible study was good, and I wanted to support the church! while the service was wrapping up, the Pastor had an altar call for anyone who needed a church home or anyone who needed prayer, I didn't move! so after church the Pastor asked me what was hindering me from joining his church or any other church for that matter! I explained to him I had just left a church in May, and I was not looking to join a church anytime soon, at this point, Im really learning to have a better relationship with the Lord, I informed him that I was a born-again believer, but that didn't seem to matter, anyway I was told by this Pastor that I was in disobedience. I have Godly mentors that keep me accountable! I feel persecuted!

It sounds like he was trying to pressure you to be a member of HIS church. You should have told him that the church is not limited to a building and that the church is the whole body of Christ and in that, you ARE a member of THE church and that is all you need.

I would advise NOT joining that church or going to services there ever again. That preacher is a complete asshole.
Any decent minister who wanted to bring you in as a potential congregant or keep you as a congregant(let alone keep you as a believer!), would have been more welcoming and less condemning to you.
You are NOT in disobedience, merely transition. Whatever your reason for leaving your last church, you obviously need time to find another that suits you. It does NOT happen overnight. You believe and are trying to learn to have a better relationship with your God, which always comes before a church. A church is a place to EXPRESS your relationship with and faith in God, not the only place you can have said relationship with God.
If he made you feel persecuted for simply getting a feel for the church, then it's not the church for you.
Best wishes to you on your spiritual path. May your relationship with God improve and you eventually find what you're looking for.

There is a difference between persecution and correction ; persecution is destructive, it does not really aim at the best interest of the object of the persecution... Correction on the other hand is meritorious if it is done in a charitable way ; clearly that pastor had good intentions in mind... Do give him credit for that ; on the other hand, all of us (including him) are in disobedience, because we all come short of the Glory of God and of His Holy Law and the Journey to the Kingdom is a long one. So do not rebel at the correction but instead use it as motivation in your prayer life to seek guidance from the Lord ; if the Lord wants you to join a Church, He will show you the way, just trust in His Guidance, for if you ask Bread from Him, He will not give a stone.

Do you feel persecuted... or convicted? There is a difference. A member of the body of Christ attends church on a regular basis and does not forsake the assembling together of (yourselves) as the manner of some is (Hebrews 10:25). Instead of feeling persecuted, be forthright with the Pastor next time and after the study or service ask him to show you exactly where in God's word it says that to be a member of a church is to be in the will of God, and that to not be a member of church is in disobedience to God's word. If he can't back it up with scripture and you are growing in your realtionship with God as you are, than do it in your own time(if that is your desire or intent). As a saved child of God, you should ALWAYS test what man says, to what God says in his word. If the Pastor teaches directly from the Bible for most of his message (instead of ie a sermon with some biblical references), than there is a good chance he is actually telling you what God has revealed about the subject. Don't be intimidated though! Do everything you do for God, right? So find out if this is something that needs to be addressed in your walk with God :)
God Bless!

The main problem with this pastor is that he is impatient. Your first Sunday there and he's trying to pressure you into joining! I imagine you're not likely to join that particular church. I strongly disagree with those who say you have to choose between a church and Christ - because He said "I will build my church". But if you had a bad experience in a church and felt you had to leave, it is normal that you should want to take your time before joining a church again.
The pastor should accept you as you are - his job is to accompany you in your growth, not try to shove you.
Keep looking!

Wow...
You need to understand that Christians "are" the church; the Christian collective, regardless of what church corporate they happen to attend. This guy is playing with definitions in order to confuse and control. For him to claim you are in disobedience is nothing more than an attempt to bring you under his control and have you held accountable... to him!
I don't think it would be a good idea to return there.

You could have asked him to show you where in the Bible it says that. Whenever someone makes a bold statement that you never heard of you can say that about "chapter and verse, please".
I think he is trying to guilt you into joining a church so you can start giving that tithe.
Don't go back to that Church or support it in anyway. Just clap the dust off your shoes and move on. There are plenty of good churches out there. Remember- we do not worship churches or worship the Bible, but God alone and His Son and our Savior, Jesus the Christ, who is one with God.

I believe you should find a church that preaches the truth and where you can worship Him.
My advice would be to honesty pray to Jesus and ask Him to send you to the right place.
It is important that you attend church, so you can further the gospel.

Feeling persecuted is not cute, in spite of the inclusion in the spelling.
Who cares what he said. He's got nothing to back that up. Since you have a relationship, ask.

He's really wrong. Pastors, of all people, are called to love and be compassionate. Maybe his motives are right, but his approach is totally inappropriate.
