If the OWS crowd is 99% of the population?

then why aren't there more of them protesting? We had about 10 times the number of people locally protesting to support Gibson guitars in their fight against the Obama administration's heavy-handed tactics than we did for the OWS protest at the capital this weekend.

Could it be that they have it backwards; that they are the 1 percenters and the other 99 percent just thinks they're a bunch of malcontents and old hippies?

Update:

OK, represents then. Still, the fact that they can only scrape up a few hundred participants across the nation would lead a logical person to conclude that it hardly represents any sort of significant movement at all. The people I've seen participating are definitely the fringe crowd, not the mainstream.

Update 2:

OK, Gibson guitar protest in Nashville (locally protesting) - 500 people

OWS protest in Nashville (locally protesting) - 35 people

Last time I checked, 500 is substantially larger than 35.

To me that just says more people in Nashville care about music than about politics. Considering it's Nashville that sounds about right. Also I'm sure many of the folks protesting at Gibson were ones who felt their job may be in jeopardy.

What is with conservatives that they don't understand basic mathematics? I thought Herman Cain with his 9-9-9 proposal was silly, just as I thought Pawlenty's math was a bit odd. But now I see someone who thinks 500 at a pro-illegal wood rally is a larger number than the people involved in "Occupy".

There were 700 (seven hundred; I'm spelling it out since you seem to be challenged by large numbers) arrested in the police trap on the Brooklyn Bridge; there were 500 (five hundred is much smaller than 700; ask a seven-year-old for help with the math) who participated in the pro-illegal wood demonstration at Gibson HQ. http://www.tennessean.com/article/20111009/BUSINES...

In fact, "Occupy" movements have sprung up in 250 cities--and the actions have lasted weeks, not hours.

You guys are really getting desperate, aren't you?

they actually think that 99% of the population agrees with them and that they have widespread support at protests happening in every city and town

Perhaps you are unclear on the concept.

They are referring to the fact that 1% of the population controls almost half of all the financial wealth in the country. Unless you are at that heady level, you are the 99%.
