I'm 15 and want to gain weight?

Right so up until June I was 8 stone 2.5 and I was extremely happy. Then I had GCSE exams, and I didn't eat much and I had anxiety and was stressing myself out about it. So I lost half a stone in a week. And I was 7 stone 9 and felt reallly weak. But after that I was fine and for a while I kept going steadily up, but to do that I just sat around eating and I don't think it was healthy. Until I went on holiday. I didn't eat much there at all and my body just dropped it again. I find it so easy to lose weight but so difficult to gain. I am terrified, I don't want to lose anymore. I am 15, female, 7 stone 9 and around 5 ft 3-4 ish. I don't know if this is healthy or not and I'm scared to weigh myself. I don't feel as weak as I did in exam week but I'm still the same weight as I was then? I'm a naturally skinny person as is my father and as was my grandmother, but I still feel quite bony and it's getting me down.

Does anyone have any tips on healthy ways to gain weight? I know exercise is one but I'm quite frightened that that'll end up making me even skinnier. I want to develop my muscles a lot more and do something which will increase my appetite.

Thanks all x

Update:

Chances are you have very low body fat, and very little muscle.

When you effectively starve yourself- muscle goes very quickly.

Contrary to popular belief, in the western world, you don't need much body fat, with lots of food available, Bruce Lee was very fit, with just 1%, and I can guarantee you have allot more than that!

Starting now, eat 3 meals a day, not huge ones, but of a decent apropriate size- a good mix of protean and vedgtables, with some carbohydrates aswell.

Start exercising aswell- it won't make you skinnier- it will make you more muscular (you won't look like a body builder, you will get `toned` easily though)

I suggest you start with just lunnges holding a weight (rucksack with books in will do fine) , push ups (if you are very weak, look up `girl push ups` they are a bit easier, bycycle crunches dorsal raises and calve raises (one legged if you find these very easy)

Aim to do each of these exercises twice a week, with at least one day between each of the same exercise, and one day a week totally off of all exercise.

Do each exercise in 3 sets, that is you do as many as you can do, have a 2-3 minute break, once again do as many as you can do, have another 2-3 minute break, then once again do as many as you can do.

I'v given you exercises to benefit the abs, obliques, triceps, pectoral muscles, shoulders, lower back, calves, hamstrings, quadriceps, and even the wrists slightly.

I'll leave aranging which exercises you do when up to you, I don't know how much time you have.

    Good Luck

You should calculate whether your a healthy weight from your BMI. From what you have said, being 7st9 and 5ft4, make you a healthy weight for your size and age so you don't actually need to worry about being underweight :)

But if it's because of feeling bony that's bothering you then gaining muscles will probably help, as it'll make you look less bony. And if you just want to gain muscle and not lose weight then you need to do exercise to specifically on muscle toning and not cardiovascular, such as doing push ups, lifting weights etc...

However, you're still growing at 15 and will naturally bulk out as you get older, just continue eating a healthy diet and you'll be fine.

Quelle(n): If it helps... I'm 17 year old female and weigh 8 stone now. When I was 15 I was probably about the same weight as you now and I'm a bit taller (5ft8) so would have had a lower BMI. So dw :)

    Eat:

    Chicken

    Steak

    Fish

    Ribs

Any kind of healthy cooked meat. Usually there are healthy versions of these meats raw at a grocery store. Buy, cook, and chow. The best way to gain weight is to eat lots of meat.

Also, it's good to eat potatoes, and sometimes it's good to maintain ur sugar level as well. Have some chocolate ice cream occasionally. As long as u eat right this shud just keep u strong and help put some weight on. I don't know what stone means. Is 7 stone 9 mean 79 ibs? If so that's bad. Good luck. Hope I helped

My little sister had to gain weight recently because she was really underweight.

    Whole milk will help

also the nutritionist had her drink a whey protein/oreo/whole milk/ vanilla ice cream (there may of been some other stuff in there too, some extracts) shake every day for a couple of weeks, she's really athletic (she dances... a lot) so it didn't actually put a whole lot of fat on her, but she did get to a healthy weight.

After reaching the weight she stopped the shakes and seems to eat chicken pretty often and is still at a healthy weight.

That sounds very commonly used! It additionally seems such as you have been incredibly skinny to start with, with a severe metabolism. so as that would have something to do with you being waiting to consume lots and not benefit a pound( so fortunate!)!!! i did no longer initiate gaining until eventually 20 weeks. And nevertheless then it exchange into very sluggish... as long as you're eating nicely for you and infant...you're able to no longer concern approximately what the size says!
