Friends of mine are getting married and, as it will be a very small family only occasion, have requested friends send message of congratulations. How long should such a message be?

What a wonderful idea! These messages will be something the couple will treasure for a lifetime. If you have remained a close friend, make sure it is personal and make it as long as you like, reminiscing about your many years as friends. If not, keep it more brief, but share a favorite saying or poem or writing with them. The more personal the better! They will cherish these!
