Because anxiety is usually attached to something specific.... a test that you worry about, not having enough money to pay your bills, a first date.... there is usually something specific that you are feeling anxious about but in GAD you just feel free floating anxiety.... there is not really any specific thing to feel anxious about.. you are just anxious for no reason.
