What do you think, is this something to worry about?

My guinea pig (squeaker) is spending all his time sleeping and has become a bigger glutton then normal. Normally he wants to run around and have fun. Now all he wants to do is sit in my lap when he is out of the cage when normally I cannot get him to sit still. I cannot put him with the second guinea pig (jerry) because he is very aggressive and they had a bad falling out. Is squeaker depressed or lonely or is age catching up with him? I've noticed that he is putting on weight and I am concerned I made sure he wasn't sick and the vet said no and is concerned about the recent weight gain. Is there anything to worry about? I mean he seams to be happy but what's with the drastic changes? I know my shift has changed quite a bit so we cannot hang out as much as normal, could this have anything to do with this? Thanks

Update:

Oh and any thoughts in why Jerry is so aggressive? Note he's been like that since I brought him home

Update 2:

I've tried bathing them at the same time that is about the only time they get along other wise it's WWIII. But that does make sense, but with that being said why does Jerry go out of his way to bight other people (oddly enough he only gets along with my sis and our chihuaha)

Sounds almost like my guinea pigs. All mine turn out to be quite large in size. If you leave them in their cage for a long time, they will become very lazy. So I take their houses out in the morning and let them run around the house once or twice a week. They love the exercise, just be very careful to unplug stuff while they're out and very VERY careful reclining the couch. They love to hide in tight places and you can easily injure them if you accidentally recline with them under the couch. So yes, they do get very lazy if you don't give them the opportunity to exercise.

And about Jerry, I notice that they are both males. Unless they were living together from birth, males will fight for dominance. Even from the same family. My guinea pig had babies, and the father and the son had to be separated due to the fighting. There really is no cure for this, as it is their nature, just to keep them separate. 2 females, however, have a better chance of getting along. Just make sure neither of them have any any contact with males, or else they fight. Happened to mine. I had to bathe them to wash away the scent.
