Attn. Germans/Austrians/Swiss in the UK, England: pls s. d.?
Where do you currently live in England and what are the pro's and con's about the place you live in from your point of view and according to your experience - also about living in England itself? What place would you recommend to someone (single, not a big party animal, loves nature but also appreciates access to the city, needs international job opportunities) who plans to move to England? In terms of infra structure, mentality, mobility etc. Naturally answers are welcome in English and German. Thanks ;-) It is not the first time I am leaving the country (Austria), have lived in many places, but now I am at a point that requires advice from you folks. Cheers!
@ nicoatridge: thanks for your very helpful and detailled information :-)

London is a lot of fun, but it makes Vienna seem very provincial and is quite expensive and everything is very crowded. However if you want to get invokved in things and find work it is great. Good areas to live include the Richmond area, Ealing, Chiswick, Camden, Islington etc. One of the nicest things about living in England is to be near the sea. There are lots of nice towns on or near the South Coast, not too far from the airports. I like Chichester, Littlehampton, Weymouth, Poole, and Lyme Regis but they are probably not so good for meeting people or job opportunities. Brighton is a bit like London except on the coast and not quite so cosmopolitan, but has plenty of jobs, a good social scene and is not far from London or the airports. Oxford, Cambridge and York are beautiful cities to live in with quite a lot going on and a good local job market. I also like Leeds and Manchester. It is amazing for such a crowded country how close beautiful countryside is to nearly everywhere. Oxford has the Cotswolds, York, the Moors, Leeds and Manchester the Pennines, Brighton the South Downs, Richmond the North Downs.
Meeting people is quite hard and a lot of the social life involved in the evenings involves people getting drunk and rowdy. It is a good idea to join clubs and societies of people with like minded interests. Take up a new hobby like scuba diving! Enrol in evening classes!

i grow to be born in Cardiff (Wales) so i constantly make the excellence between the countries. yet considering residing interior the U. S. I even have observed that a majority of the folk i communicate with consult from the united kingdom commonly as England, as though its the sole u . s . there is. collectively as chatting with human beings, some have even argued with me asserting Wales isn't a u . s . yet an island. to respond to your different question. In my experience there are not people who dont like the term uk, yet i be attentive to i'm getting aggravated with it by way of fact it style of feels they think of the united kingdom in contact in basic terms England and not the entire uk.
