No it is not a fight for oil,the Libyan stuff goes to southern Europe,so we are not interested in the black stuff for once, surprised Germany have backed off,hah got it,if they stay away and if whats his name stays in power they will be favoured. For once I think we are trying to fight for stability in a country that wants it.The good thing is it will reveal the huge cracks in that toilet paper alliance called NATO after this I think we should resign from it,it will save megabucks.Quite like the idea of a UK/France Canadian military pact the rest are rubbish.

The Government should never follow the whims of the ignorant masses. Especially when the British media are constantly spinning against whatever they do. It is the job of the Government to try and take the best decisions based on their superior knowledge of the situation, not to follow random opinion poll results. I make no comment on the use of the Apaches, because I am sensible enough to recognise that I am not well enough informed about the military and political situation, some of which will be secret. ============================== The public wanted Chamberlain to appease Hitler. The cost of that was the Second World War. The American public didn't want the U.S Air Force to fly European peace Keeping troops into Rwanda. The cost of that mistake was millions dead and all of the neighbouring countries remain destabilised. Gadaffi already has a long record of committing acts of Genocide, and he has clearly stated that he will now give no mercy to the opposition tribal populations. There is no alternative but to see that his regime is defeated.

What is that? You mean the wringing of hands and the knashing of teeth? That bit is going on because the French and British now know the Americans aren't going to come in and bail them out with land forces, money or any other type of military force. In other words they are going to lose all the money they have already invested in this little adventure of "stealing a nation". The lives lost in this little fiasco doesn't matter to the politicians in the British or French government. Why would they? They haven't changed in he last 4 or 5 decades in their thinking on that. Money is the key. Give their politicians a really good back hander and this whole mess would be over in a day, no matter which side paid them. Oh! Forgot. You would have to add in a bit of the old oil concessions as well. They could then parade them like medals in front of one another at their mutual admiration society meetings held in the EU parliament building.

Well Europe gets 20% of their oil from Libya. So the French and British should do most of the work.
