Will switching my state driving license nullify my outstanding speeding ticket?
I'm 21 and have had my driver's license since April 2007. I recently got my first speeding ticket 2 weeks ago (conveniently just weeks before I have to start paying for my own car insurance!), and was wondering if switching my license to that of another state would mean I don't have to pay the outstanding ticket and if it will carry over to my new license? I have a North Carolina driver's license, but I am currently living in Virginia and was thinking about getting a Virginia driving license if it means my old traffic violation on my NC license will not transfer to my VA license.
Thanks in advance for your help! (And btw, this incident is my only run-in with law enforcement).

If you don't pay the ticket, you will be found guilty by default and they will issue a warrant and/or suspend your license. If your license is suspended in one state, you can not hold a license in another state.
Because you were found guilty by default, your insurance company can still see the violation regardless of what you do.

No it will not void the speeding ticket, you will still be required to pay for it. It may or may not follow you onto your new license, that is up to the individual state. For insurance, you still need to inform the company if you switch insurance, as the ticket is not just posted by your driver's license but usually also recorded by your social security number, which means sooner or later your insurance company will pick up the ticket.

No, it will not "get rid of" the ticket. The jurisdiction who wrote you the ticket will put out a warrant for your arrest, and your license can be suspended in whatever state you have one.

While the vermont side may not show the ticket, most states communicate regarding this sort of thing. For instance, while Vermont may not go after you for the ticket, you can bet NC will. And yes, they can garnish wages.

No, there is whats known as state to state reciprocity which means each state recognizes and honors each other when violations such as this occur.

It doesn't matter where you live, you still have to pay the ticket.
