will my major/ minor compliment each other?

currently, I am working on my BA degree. i have not committed to anything seeing as I have 1 more year before I declare a major/minor. but here's what I'm thinking & working towards so far: major in History (concentration being United States), double minor in American Studies & Political Science, AND get teacher certification. is that too far-fetched? I just don't want to find myself in a corner 10 years from now with no way out (job-wise). opinions?

There is no need for a major and minor to compliment each other, but yes yours do.

I write melodies on guitar, when I come up with something I like, a riff a melody with some groove, something special, not just pleasant and predictable, then i harmonize with a chord progression that i "know" will work (even if predictable, these are well known from music theory and endless songs) which tends to have a major or minor tonality, tends to be in one of the easier guitar keys: E/C#m, A/F#m, D/Bm, C/Em, G/Em. Then, I start to re-harmonize the chord progression by replacing some of the chords with 7, m7, sus, sus2, 6, and add chords. This is mostly trial and error (but it does make the music come to life) I don't use a lot of chords with extensions (b9add13, like jazz chords), then I think about voicing the chords or moving the base note in the chord differently. But for me it all starts with a melody that feels like it can go somewhere devoid of anything technical or music theory based except possibly a root tone of a key in my ear.
